{Our Wedding} The Bridal Shower

Everyone knows the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”? Well, I believe that for most of us, it also takes a few generations of wild and wise women to make us into the woman we turn out to be. This past Saturday we celebrated my Bridal Shower with about 20 of my closest gals pals, and I can confidently say that each and every woman in that room has taught me a little something about being a friend, sister, colleague, student, adventurer, thinker, rebel, future-mother and soon-to-be wife. These women have been the one’s I’ve leaned on in the good times and in the bad. We’ve had late night talks into the wee hours of the night, and have horsed around my hometown city and distant cities as crazy, foolish 20 year-old’s. These women have shared perpetual Chinese dinners and funny movies, as well as a full-size mattress on night’s where driving home just seemed too far. These women have cheered me on in soccer and basketball games, and others have been a teammate on the field. Every girl in that room witnessed my evolution from know-it-all teen, to a curious woman, to care-taker to my family, and now – a girl on the verge of the most important chapter in my life.

To my lovely ladies, thank you for riding along this journey with me so far….you better not go anywhere! Thank you for the times you’ve loved me, supported me, reassured me, centered me, held my hand and most importantly…called me out on my shit. Where would I be without you all?
